The fact is there are many things you can do to prevent heat-related illness. Moreover, babies and old individuals are more sensitive therefore, they require more attention and care against this condition.
Try not to go outside when the weather is extremely hot, stay indoors in air conditioned areas. However, if you are still required to go outside then take the following preventions:
- Use loose-fitting, lightweight dress
- Wear a cap to protect your head from the sun
- Keep drinking water to replace fluids lost through sweating
- Do not leave anyone inside the car when it is hot outside
- Try to schedule your activities in the cooler times of the day before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
